This is an unofficial translation of the Interim Guidance published by the World Health Organization (WHO) under the name "Ethical considerations to guide the use of digital proximity tracking technologies for COVID-19 contact tracing" published in May 28, 2020, reference number: WHO/2019-nCoV/Ethics_Contact_tracing_apps/2020.1. This interim guidance is intended to inform public health programmes and governments that are considering whether to develop or implement digital proximity tracking technologies for COVID-19 contact tracing. The document covers ethical principles, technical considerations and requirements that are consistent with these principles; and how to achieve equitable and appropriate use of such technologies.
